This doesn't happen overnight. It a symptom of crappy customer service, poorly designed software, infrequent updates, stripping the non-paying users of useful features unless they pay, proprietary video codec, cheap cameras that break within months of purchase, and this is why they shove advertising down our throats to try and keep the company afloat.
